The Minister of Energy and Water Resources Chaired a Consultation Meeting with ESPs in Mogadishu Aimed at Merging and Uniting.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources has proposed a significant restructuring of the electricity supply in Mogadishu by encouraging the merger of leading Electricity Service Providers (ESPs). This strategic initiative aims to unite and merge BECO, BlueSky Energy, and Mogadishu Power into a single, robust entity. The primary objective of this merger is to enhance the efficiency and reliability of electricity services for the growing demands of Mogadishu’s residents. By combining resources, expertise, and infrastructure, the new entity will be better positioned to minimize operational redundancies, reduce technical and commercial losses, and extend electricity access across the region.

This consolidation is envisaged to bring about improved service delivery and cost efficiencies, which are critical in accelerating the region’s economic development and ensuring sustainable energy distribution.

The unification of these ESPs under the guidance of the Ministry represents a transformative leap toward achieving greater operational excellence and customer satisfaction in Mogadishu’s energy sector. With the Ministry leading the charge, the merger is set to foster a collaborative environment that leverages the collective capabilities of all three companies.

This strategic amalgamation is expected to result in a more competitive market presence and a stronger financial base, enabling the merged entity to invest in advanced technology and infrastructure enhancements. Furthermore, the united company, led by Mr. Abdirahman Dakhare of BECO, promises a streamlined governance structure that will drive efficiencies and innovation, thus propelling Mogadishu towards a more stable and prosperous energy future.
