Mogadishu, April 2024: The Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdillahi Bidhaan Warsame, held a productive meeting with the Projects Implementation Unit of the Somali Electricity Sector Recovery Project and The Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation in Somalia (ASCENT Somalia). Both development Projects aimed to transform and reestablish the electricity supply industry in Somalia by building and rehabilitating the country’s electricity infrastructure.

The Minister was accompanied in this meeting by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Ali; the State Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Farah; the Director General of the National Electricity Authority, Mr. Abdullahi Ahmed Dayib; and the General Director of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, Mr. Abdullahi Hassan Aden.

The SESRP/ASCENT Interim Projects Coordinator provided updates of the project components, development objectives and outcomes. The specialists in the Project Implementation Unit presented the progresses and achievements.

The Minister thanked the Project Implementation Unit and encouraged them to keep the good work. The Minister also reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to transform the electricity supply industry In Somalia and ensure every citizen has access to affordable, reliable and accessible electricity services.
