The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MoEWR) of the Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States conducted a three-day consultation workshop to validate capacity Needs Assessment and Capacity Building Strategy Report which Horn Population Research and Development (HPRD) carriedout. The director generals of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Federal government and Federal member states, SESRP focal points,Energy Service providers and Horn Population Research and Development (HPRD) took part.

The consultation and validation workshop took place in Kismaayo, Jubaland, Somalia where the stakeholders have further discussed the capacity needs assesment and capacity building strategy report and its componenets.

The Director Generals of Federal Member states (Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Jubaland and Southwest, Somali Electriciyt Sector Recovery Project focal points of Federal member states and Banadir, Representatives of HPRD, Director general of Federal Government of Somalia and MOEWRs -PIU particiated the consulation and validation workshop.

The Ministry of energy and water resources of Jubaland officialy opened the consulation and validation workshop and stated the importance of carrying out the capacity needs assessment for the department of the energy of FMS Ministry of energy and water resources. He also emphasised the importance of validating the final report and capacity builidng plan and capacity building strategy which will be strenthen the energy departments of the energy. The Minister vowed that his ministry (Ministyr of energy and water resourceso of Jubaland) will implement and monitor the progress of the both the capacity building plan and capacity building strategy and encouraged his counter parts to take that commitment too.

The Director General of the Ministry of energy and water resources of federal government of Somalia Mr. Abdirisak Mohamed Muhumed also provided his opening remarks for the validation and consultation workshop and kindly requested all Director general of the federal member states to provide their inputs, suggestions and recommend changes where necessary for the final capacity needs assessment and capacity building report and ensure the final drafted is validated.

Director Generals of the Ministries of energy and water resources gave their opening remarks to the consulation workshop and emphasized the importance of validating the final capacity building assessessment findings and capacity building plan and capacity building strategy, they pledeged that once the report is validated they will fast track the implementation of the capacity building plan and the strategy and closely monitor the progress of its implementation with the techincal support and guidence from the Project Implementation Unit in the MOEWRs-FGS.
